Jason was there at the inception of BSFC and started supporting the Rouslers in their first season in existence and even started a group called Friends of Bromsgrove Sporting, selling Super 6 Tickets alongside Graham Rowley, Dave Winters, Ian Clarke, Louise Sola, Abby Sola, Luke Sola, Brian Andrews Rowley, and David Shepherd to help raise funds to boost the playing budget at the time.
That continued for 2 years until he joined the BSSS with those mentioned above and naturally volunteered to man the BSSS match day stall and additionally ran the official club shop for the BSSS through the historic FA vase Run where the Sporting reached the Semi-Finals against Cleethorpes Town.
Jason then volunteered in the shop moving forward and on top of this, during close seasons gave his free time along with others to renovate numerous areas of the ground.
And lastly, when the club took back the running of the club shop, Jason was involved in running the shop up to January 2022.
Jason has stood as a club director twice, as a BSSS director and Chairman of the BSSS up until his resignation earlier this year, with his time, effort, and focus now being on his family and other interests.
We are sure you will agree that after such exhaustive commitment to both BRFC and BSFC, Jason deserves everyone’s best wishes in his decision to step away from the board of the BSSS and we all hope to see him around the Victoria Ground once again in the future.
What a servant to BRFC, BSFC, and football in general in Bromsgrove!
The BSSS Board will now take the opportunity to research and hopefully appoint a suitable replacement for Jason and will advise our members when progress has been made on this.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly as the BSSS has had representatives sitting on the club board for over 10 years, but we feel we are increasingly marginalised at club board level, and are no longer actively involved, or consulted in the important decisions required to run the football club.
Notably, the BSSS was given no prior visibility of the statement released by the club on 8th March in relation to The Articles of Association, and it was not discussed with or approved by the BSSS Representative sitting on the club board.
The Society also have concerns over decisions that have been made at club board level which relate to the running of the football club which have not been communicated to all directors and therefore made without their knowledge.
It should be noted that, despite withdrawing our representation from the club board, we wish to continue to work with the remaining board members to fully represent our members, resolve the issues within the Articles of Association, and ensure the club is successful moving forwards.
The Society plan to hold a forum with members to discuss the Articles of Association in the near future and will advise the date of this in due course.
]]>Before I begin, I’d like to make it clear to members present that this update is provided with the current understanding of facts based on legal advice we have been provided with as a society. I say this, as we are aware that other member’s may have personally received legal advice in relation to these matters which may differ to our own.
Over the preceding 10 years the society has provided the football club with approximately £50000 in investment in lieu of shares. Currently, there are 52 individual shareholders of the football club, with the society being the largest holding 418 of the 1002 issued shares, 42%. Whilst we started with a 10% shareholding, this increased to 42% due to subsequent requests for the club during times of financial difficulty, and to fund various projects.
We believed this shareholding provided the society with a right to call a poll vote during AGM, and EGM’s, in addition to holding a voting share of 42%
Therefore, when the club board proposed amending the articles of association to restrict our voting share to 10%, we naturally believed this would disenfranchise the society and its members.
Subsequently, we contacted the Football Supporters Association to obtain legal advice on this matter. Unfortunately, after complex discussions over many months, our legal advice made us aware of an amendment to the club’s articles of association on the 3rd September 2010, prior to the society investing money into the club.
This amendment restricts a poll vote taken at an AGM, or EGM of the club to be conducted as one vote per shareholder regardless of shareholding. This gives the society and every other shareholder the exact same voting power. We believe this disenfranchises the society and all other shareholders with more than one share.
It must be pointed out that the current club board has no responsibility for this amendment, and the reason for why it was applied is left for previous directors to explain. However, when the society invested money into the club it was under the assumption that the shares we were provided with in return increased our voting rights and stake within the club.
Currently, the society’s share of the vote at an AGM is 1 in 52, or approximately 2%. This is the same for all shareholders.
Therefore, we now agree that the clubs articles of association are required to be updated to reinstate a full and proper poll vote based on shareholding, which would return the society’s voting share to 42% and reinstate their value. We don’t agree that our voting power should be limited to 10% as proposed by the current club board. However, we have no objection to our voting power being reduced by investment into the club via the sale of more shares.
We are also working with the Football Supporters Association to explore other avenues of distributing our shareholding if we are unable to find common ground with the current club board to rectify this matter.
In summary, as a board:
We will keep all society members updated with our progress on these matters over the coming months.
Thank you.
]]>Dear Members,The BSSS have recently been given notice that the upcoming Bromsgrove Sporting Limited AGM will take place on Wednesday 24th November 2021.We are keen, as ever, to represent the views of our members at this upcoming AGM.Therefore, we are inviting members to share their questions and opinions for the BSSS representatives to table at the AGM.For your perusal, the BSSS would like to bring attention to the recent micro company accounts which are available to view publicly, here.We are of course aware of the concerns raised by supporters in regards to the current situation at the club. The BSSS would like to reassure members that we will endeavour to work in the best interests of the club and its supporters. Please send your questions to bsssonline@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing your views.Kind regards,
The BSSS Board
]]>Please find a very important update in relation to ongoing discussions around the clubs attempts to change the club's constitution which the BSSS believes is detrimental to the founding ethos of club and seeks to weaken the BSSS position as a major shareholder with a near 45 % holding.
Given that club has voted to take the proposal forward at either an EGM or AGM, the BSSS board now feels it has duty to inform members.
We do not oppose change for the sake of it but we do oppose a proposal that reduces BSSS voting rights to 10% when you as members/supporters have helped us buy close to a 45% shareholding in the club.
We do not want Rovers to happen again and to quote a former BSSS Secretary from 2009 when the society was first set up we are " a fair and democratic body representing supporters of Bromsgrove Rovers, with the ultimate objective not just of having a voice in the club but also possibly running it" (page 181 the Victoria Ground Story)
That was not possible with the Rovers and the BRSSS became the BSSS with three directors on the board and a near 45 % shareholding. What we were unable to do with the Rovers we will not give up, the hard-fought gains we have made with the Sporting. We owe that at least to our members, fans and former BSSS directors/board members whose legacy was to ensure we had this level of representation and influence within our club.
Any feedback would be great so please e mail Jason Sola BSSS Chairman and one of us will get back to you.

As the famous saying goes, ‘the show must go on’, which a plethora of non-league clubs are having to abide by in these uncertain times.
Maintenance work, contract renewals, financial outlays for the future all need to be done, yet football remains at a standstill.
Victor Aguera, secretary of the Bromsgrove Sporting Supporters Society, ensures that the fans have their say in the dealings of the club during the lockdown period.
